Yay for another great week! We are starting to get back into the school year routine. This week in MATH, we are working on addition and subtraction strategies to 10. We are using tools to find all the ways to make numbers. We are adding to our math journals. We are learning about part-part-whole to relate addition and subtraction. In COMMUNICATION ARTS, we have been working on our vowel sounds and building Vowel Town. We have started working with our first Screech Guide "defender C". When a short vowel word ends with the 'k' sound we spell it with a ck. We continue to practice What's your name e? The e at the end makes the vowel say it's name (cake). In Writing, we have been working on topics we can write about and how to conference on our writing. We have been practicing our center stations so that we can start PTR groups. We have also been working on handwriting (letters are formed top down/ size/ spacing). We are also developing our stamina when we silent read. We have been learning the difference between laws and rules and matching rules/laws to actions. We have also set up our writing binders and learning goal binders. Specials for the week: Music, PE, Art, Music. Library is Wednesday.
