In Writing, we are working, we are working on narrative writing. We want to have a topic sentence, three details, and a conclusion. This week and next, we are working on a piece about a magical snow friend. We will be working on adding adjectives to help describe, We will also work on pair editing.
In Spelling, next week we will focus on words with ee and -e. Our words will be: three, need, take, name, home, those, come, and some. The sentences are: Will the lost cats come home? Take some cake to the three men.
In PTR Large Group and Small Groups, we have been reviewing Screech Guides. We also learned when to use defender D. We only have 1 more screech guide to learn. In small groups, most groups are working on spot the vowel, reading real words, crossing the river, reading with fluency. Some are still struggling with spelling the sounds correctly and using screech guides. I know we can get this!
I will be gone on Thursday to take Sarah back to the CMH concussion specialists. I am hoping for a good report. Her headaches are so much better, but she still has them. She is trying to go to school full days but the headaches are still there.
First grade is changing our classroom schedules. With students being pulled out for ELL and Reading Intervention, we wanted to rearrange what we do, so no one misses out. So we will start the day with Shared Reading/Science/Social Studies, then go to Writing, and then Jaguar Time (both were at the end of the day). After recess, we will do Spelling (same) and after lunch we will still do Large Group PTR. After recess, we will still do Math. After Specials we will do Small Group Rotations. *we basically flipped Writing and Jaguar with Small Group Rotations.
We have had several student stop bringing snacks and depending on the Share Table that our Counselor set up or on what I have for them. The Share Table and my snacks should be for an "oops I forgot snack" instead of "I don't need to bring snack, I can get it there." I hope we can start bringing in our own snack.
Please check supplies. A few friends have broken headphones. They don't have to be expensive, but they do need them (and they will next year as well). Mrs. Givens and I have passed out the extras that we bought but we can't provide them for everyone.
Congratulations to Julius for passing all four sight word lists! Noah passed list 3 too! Several friends are close to passing their levels too! Congratulations to Addy who has passed level 14 in Math Fact Fluency!
Don't forget to send coats (if the temperature is at the right level and the playground is not wet, we will go outside.).
Have a great weekend!! Mrs. C
