In COMMUNICATION ARTS this week, we have been working too! In SCIENCE, we have been learning about the parts of plants and how those parts help the plant grow. In WRITING, we have been working on writing personal narratives and using details and adjectives to turn blah sentences into wow sentences. Part of writing is proofreading and editing. In LARGE GROUP PTR, we have been working on multiple syllables and instant syllables (ture, tion, er, ed).For SPELLING next week, our focus will be on words with au/aw. Our words will be: saw, jaw, claw, hawk, craw, haul, one, two. The boy saw one red hawk. Two bugs crawl by the queen. In Small Group PTR, two groups are doing guided reading. One group is close to moving into total guided reading, and two groups are working on vowel sounds. Those three groups will be working on segmenting and writing words and reading real words. Next week, they will work on reading and comprehension.
Next week, we do have school on Monday. It is a make up day for a snow day.
Our specials will be: PE, Art, Music, PE, and Art. We have library on Wednesday. Several friends have had books out a long time.
Next Friday is the school carnival. A note went home 2 weeks ago to help fill first grade's silent auction basket. Our basket is an Arts and Crafts basket. A second note is going home today. We need items in by Tuesday. The carnival silent auction helps us with field trips (among other things).
I am happy to say that Sarah has been cleared by the final neurologist!! She still has vestibular therapy to go to every 2 weeks, so I will be out a few more half days. I'm so thankful that the class has been so great for the substitutes.
No school tomorrow. Have a blessed and joyful Easter! Mrs. C.
