We had a great time at our field trip! Thank you to the parents that helped us have such a fun time!!
We have had a very busy week in MATH! We worked hard on our last math learning target: I can add and subtract to 100! We used a hundreds chart to add and subtract tens, we used mental math to add and subtract by tens, we added a one digit number to a 2 digit number, and we even introduced regrouping. Good thing we worked so hard on knowing our math facts and place value! This week we continued working on our animal research project. This is part of Science, Writing, and Shared Reading. We used the computer and library books to find out information on habitats, life cycles, adaptations, food/diet, and interesting facts. We wrote a rough draft and edited it. We created a book with a cover, table of contents, chapters with a picture or map, and a glossary. Boy did this class work hard!! Most are finished and their books are on display in the hallway. We will finish Monday and share our books. I am so proud of the hard work and effort. I am also proud that several students were super helpers with their classmates!! Students have also been keeping their learning goal binders/portfolios up to date. They have been filling in stars and adding writing samples. These binders will come home next Thursday. This week, we also took the SRI reading test. I am proud that so many students followed directions and took their time. I hope the ones that rushed, will remember to take their time next year. We had a great time at our field trip! Thank you to the parents that helped us have such a fun time!!
